Earth Day Snarkfest

Happy Earth Day 2008!  The local papers have tons of articles relating to the environment here are some of my takes on these topics.

The Environtmental Defense Fund which is "an advocacy group that supports a mandatory cap and a substantial reduction of emissions" believes that slashing greenhouse gas emissions won't hurt the economy.  In other news, the UAW believes that assembly line workers should make $100,000 a year and the DPS believes it's doing a great job educating Detroit students.

At what point does the energy produced by wind farms break even with the energy needed to build and maintain them?  Can we build these wind farms in your bark yard?  These questions and more NOT answered here.

In physics, the Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed.  The amount of energy required to propel a 2,000 pound car down the road at 50 MPH is the same whether the car is powered by gasoline, electricity, or hydrogen, or any combination of these.

Who knew that using corn to fuel cars would cause the price of corn to go up?  It's like supply and demand have something to do with it.  How odd.

More to come later in the day.

Lunchtime updates:

Michelle Malkin has more coverage about how the crazy commies want to use environmentalism to kill capitalism.

Los Angeles and San Fancisco fight for the title of greenest city as well as the title of most-expensive-gas-in-the-nation city.
