Miss USA

I wonder if the mad mullahs in Iran are conflicted over the fact that an Arab-American Muslim was just crowned Miss USA.  Useful propaganda or just more proof of Western influence corrupting Muslim youth?  I can’t imagine Ms. Fakih walking around Tehran in this.  I’d imagine the the Miss Iran contest has a burka competition [...]

Where’s The Beef?

I guess Michigan is in better shape than I thought, given the fact that our Governor has taken the time out of her busy schedule to kowtow to the vegetarians and proclaim March 20th as Michigan Meatout Day.  I’ll be eating a nice juicy steak on Saturday, maybe off the grill if the weather stays [...]

Change

Some people firmly believe in change for the sake of change and the editorial staff at the Freep is definitely part of that group.  Compromise has both the left and the right extremely displeased with the health-care bill.  But that doesn’t bother the Freep who themselves are not happy with the bill.  But they want [...]

Nice Work If You Can Get It

Not only did “old” GM get dumped with all the “bad” assets, but they have to pay for the bankruptcy itself.  Or at least $23 million to a consulting firm for three months worth of work.  I’m in the wrong business.

Unhappy Anniversary

Today is the 70th anniversary of the beginning of World War II when Germany invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939.  Two years later, the US would enter the war which would not be over for another four years.

Charity Motors

I figured that the cash-for-clunkers program would drive up the price of used cars, but I completely forgot about the impact it would have on charities.  Many of these organizations auction off donated cars to help to raise money for their particular cause.  You usually hear about these charities at the end of the year [...]

Gone Fishing

Time for the annual Fourth of July extended weekend.  Happy Birthday America!

Depressing

One nice thing about governmental gridlock is that it usually doesn’t make matters worse.  I hope Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress remembers history – FDRs policies deepened the Great Depression:

Two UCLA economists say they have figured out why the Great Depression dragged on for almost 15 years, and they blame a suspect previously thought to [...]

Looks Who’s Number 1!

Fresh off my third place showing, I dug deep and pulled out a first place caption.

Self Defense

So Hamas starts throwing pebbles at the pitbull that is Israel and is surprised when the doggie breaks off its leash and defends itself.  I’m glad to see The Detroit News isn’t siding with the anti-Semites in the international community:
Israel must insist on its right to defend itself, no matter how loud the protests from [...]
