Too Late?

The Freep finally comes to terms with the fact that GM and Chrysler will eventually file for bankruptcy protection.  Naturally, they don’t think Obama should touch union health insurance coverage or pension benefits.  Apparently, it’s OK for the president can effectively fire the CEO of a publicly traded company (if he can fire the CEO [...]

The Green Myth

The left has been trying to convince us that “green” technology can be our savior – saving our environment and saving our economy.  Granholm thinks that so-called “green-collar” jobs can revitalize Michigan’s stagnating, or rather shrinking economy.  They haven’t helped California nor have they helped Denmark.  Instead of forcing people to go green, the government [...]

Be Careful What You Ask For

What did the morons at the Freep think would happen when the big-government nanny-statist Democrats got involved in the auto industry?  Instead of letting business nature take its course, the left doles out taxpayer money to failing companies.  Why do we even have bankruptcy laws?  Now Obama and co. are picking who gets to be [...]

Toughen Up

So the University of Michigan does a study on spanking as a disciplinary method and finds that it leads to aggression and defiance.  To which I respond – are these bad traits?  Only to liberal panty-waist politically-correct namby-pamby intelligentsia sociologists who have no children.

Wolves

The teachers unions are licking their chops at the stimulus money set aside to be spent on education.  Hmm, I wonder where they want the money spent?
And these funds can guarantee that the most important resources our
students have can be kept in Michigan’s schools — highly qualified
teachers and support personnel.
Translation: More teachers means more union [...]

Hey, Let’s Raise Taxes

The Freep never met a tax it didn’t like.  This time Macomb residents are going to have their property tax increased by about 9%.  The trouble is that it won’t solve the long term, or even short term problem.  The idea behind the tax is to fill the $10 million budget gap and instead of [...]

Roadmap

If you want to see what the future holds for the US under socialist/communist leadership, take a look at what’s happening in France.  19% unemployment, violent protests, and hostage situations.  This also shows why you don’t negotiate with terrorists.  A couple of weeks ago, Sony employees held their boss hostage hoping for better severance pay.  [...]

Good News?

There may be some good news in the latest unemployment numbers for Michigan.  Even though the jobless rate has increased to 12%, it could have been worse.  Manufacturing actually added 2,000 jobs and:
The month-over-month job losses were greatest in the government employment sector, which gave up 12,000 jobs.
Good!  Now we need to tack on another [...]

More Competition

Blue Cross is raising its rates because it has very little competition.  The state needs to allow any provider from anywhere to be able to compete for health insurance customers.  And the “privileged” status needs to go.  More competition means better service at a better price.

Embarrassment In Chief

It’s embarrassing that we’re being taught diplomatic lessons from Mexico.  Embarrassing, but not surprising, considering the inexperienced empty suit we elected as president.  Unfortunately, we’ve got about another two years of this until the Republicans gain control of Congress in 2010.
