Charles Krauthammer gives Obama advice on how to ‘bait-and-switch’ us into rationed universal “free” health care. I hope Obama doesn’t pay heed. Translation of today’s Freep editorial: People in the rest of the state need to pay for Detroit’s poorly run transit authority. Oh hell, while we’re at it, why not force Michigan to foot the bill for the city’s poorly run schools. The Freep thinks that the Cash-For-Clunkers is a success. I guess we are in an era of low expectations, which may be true given their support of Obama. First, the program was underfunded and required the destruction of assets – the traded-in cars had to be destroyed. Some dealers gave up on the program because [...] As a republic, we have fifty different labs in which to experiment with the role government in the lives of its citizens. With health care, we see that the reforms enacted by Massachusetts led to increased costs and longer wait times. I would call that experiment a failure, while Obama plans to adopt many of [...] The role of the media was supposed to be the watchdog of the government. Instead, they chose a particular side, the left, and blindly supported its agenda. Instead of questioning where all the money was going, demanding better results from the schools, and asking to look at the books, the media was complacent with the [...] A liberal fascist is dead. Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment. Stop the press, hold the phone, etc. etc, etc. The Freep has this breaking headline – “Financial Issues Facing Detroit Are Very Real.” No kidding. The time to worry about finances is not when they are out of control, but should be an ongoing concern. Surprisingly, the Freep is begging the unions to cooperate with [...] Now that Detroit has mayor with some experience running a company, instead of a lawyer (liar), Detroit can start getting down to business. First on the agenda – employee perks. 42 days off a year? That’s almost a month-and-a-half. Viagra needs to go and so does covering “kids” up to 25 years old. Get a [...] Just as the recovery bill was not about helping the economy, the proposed health care bill is not about helping lower the cost of health care or making sure more people are covered. It’s about those Democratic special interests who were looked over in the recovery bill. This time around, the labor unions get about [...] Under every stone in Detroit is another thief. This time the crook was to oversee reforms in the Detroit Police Department, but, apparently, no one was overseeing her. So another $13 million is gone. Detroit sure knows how to pick ‘em or maybe crooks are attracted to the city due to the lack of real [...] |
