Mum’s The Word

The media it trying to cover up the fact that the Democrats refused to increase regulation on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  After searching the web sites of both Detroit newspapers, I came across an article that actually mentions Fannie Mae and Barney Frank.  The title is encouraging – “Lawmakers not off the hook.”  But then the author beseeches us not to partake in partisan politics during an election year:

Five weeks from Election Day makes ideological posturing inevitable. Taking partisan shots about who championed de-regulation isn’t helpful. Nor is reminding folks who blocked reform at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (bailout proponents Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass, and Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn.) or who allowed investment banks to double their debt-to-capital ratio (the Bush Administration).

If we aren’t supposed to ask these questions during an election year, when the hell are we supposed to?
